We officially have winners for the 2nd annual Code-a-Palooza. This year we tasked developers to create new visualization tools that help consumers make high value decisions using the 2012 Medicare Provider Payment Data that was released for the first time by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services this past April. PrescribeWellness said the goal of the deal was to improve medication adherence and health management outcomes by using karmadata's data mining and analysis of patient interactions for the design and automation of personalized communications. karmadata users are now able to identify and segment Clinical Investigators and Key Opinion Leaders based upon research and other payments from biotech and pharmaceutical firms, over 15 months before public release by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). The Physician Payments Sunshine Act was enacted alongside the Affordable Care Act, requiring manufacturers of drugs, biologics, and devices to disclose research and other payments to physicians. This data will not be released to the public by CMS until September 30, 2014, but karmadata has obtained a significant amount of this data in advance and is releasing it today in advance of the Drug Information Association 2013 annual meeting. ...read more
